The Council voted to proceed with Delivery Vehicles for both East Colchester and West Tey. The vote was on party lines 29 Labour/Lib Dem for vs 18 Conservative against. It’s actually better news than it sounds because it’s the first time councillors at any of Braintree/Tendring or Colchester have challenged the proposals. At last it’s not just CAUSE fighting West Tey. Essex County Council holds a similar vote on Tuesday. CAUSE aims to attend and …speak again.
This vote does not mean that any or all of the garden communities are definitely going to happen. The Local Plan will be submitted to the Planning Inspector next year and he will determine whether it is ‘sound’. CAUSE will be raising funds for planning & legal advice in 2017.
